Why Alternatives Medical Clinic Should Be Your First Choice

Abortion clinics charge for their pregnancy confirmation services. Alternatives Medical Clinic offers a confidential place to confirm if you actually are pregnant with a free and comfortable limited ultrasound exam. We also provide an unhurried setting to get your questions answered regarding your pregnancy choices. We do not refer or provide for contraception or abortion services.

Do I need a ultrasound before an abortion?

Getting an ultrasound is highly encouraged to determine if the pregnancy is in the uterus, if the pregnancy is viable (has a heartrate), and how far along you are in your pregnancy.

What tests are done before an abortion?

If you have a positive pregnancy test, seek out STI testing and treatment from your primary care physician before getting an abortion.

How much does an abortion cost?

The cost of an abortion is determined by the type of procedure, which depends on how far along the pregnancy has developed. To learn more click here.

What happens during an abortion?

This depends on the type of abortion you get. If you get a medical abortion, you will likely be taking two different medications. One pill stops the pregnancy, and the other pill expels the pregnancy tissue from your body. To learn more click here.

If you get a surgical abortion, a doctor must insert a speculum to view inside your vaginal canal. Your cervix will be stretched open with dilators before the procedure. Next, the doctor will insert a tube through the cervix into the uterus, which is attached to a suction device. This will empty the uterus. To learn more click here.

Do abortions hurt?

Pain and discomfort levels vary from woman to woman. See “What are the side effects of abortion?” below for more information.

How long does the pain last after an abortion?

You can expect to experience light to heavy vaginal bleeding accompanied by cramping for about two weeks. However, if you continue to have bleeding and cramping for more than two weeks, you should seek medical attention. Seek emergency medical care if you have excessive pain or bleeding at any time.

What are the side effects of an abortion?
